Turn off Mac volume sound

mac volume

You know the "quip" sound on a Mac, when you raise or lower the volume from the keyboard? It's annoying, particularly if you are playing music. At a certain point you'll want to turn it off. Here's how:

  • Click on the Apple symbol in the upper left-hand corner of your OS X desktop
  • Select "System Preferences"
  • Select "Sound"
  • Deselect "Play feedback when volume is selected"

You're done! The "quip" sound is banished when you press the f11 and f12 function keys.
